SIGIL handles cut and paste
As I've written elsewhere in these threads, SIGIL is remarkably adept at pasting content that you've copied from WORD. Select the whole WORD document and cut, then paste into a new SIGIL html file in Book view. The result is a pretty decent approximation of what you had in Word. You'll want to redefine <p> to get indented paragraphs without intervening space. Best of all, you don't get any of the horrible html that WORD insists on exporting.
Going the other way: Suppose you find you want to export your epub to WORD. I was astonished at how well this can work in SIGIL. Merge your chapters together, select all, cut, and then paste into WORD. Paragraph structure, italics, curly quotes are all preserved. |

Be careful, not everything cut/paste very well. It depends on the used tags. For example <dd> tags are not copied/paste correctly.
