Where do non-pirates look for free fiction?
I know of Smashwords and Feedbooks, is there anywhere else you can upload an original (free) ebook where someone might find it?

Lulu and Scribd are the other big ones. There are also plenty of sites like free-ebooks.net that like to tell people "Become a published author by uploading your book here!!!!" Youpublish.com, bibliotastic.com, webook.com, and so on.
The digital slushpile is huge. |

I believe that PG will also accept free, copyrighted, material.

They seem pretty legit - a lot of the links are to author websites. Quite a lot of pirates shop there too. |

I'm a big fan of manybooks, mainly for older, PD, titles but you can request to have your ebook evaluated for inclusion using the above link. |

Mobileread, of course.
Just scroll to the top of this page and click on E-Books. You will have to post here, with a link, that there is free, contemporary book available. I get many books by spotting a post from book author here. |

Feedbooks seems to be the best one so far in terms of number of downloads. Do they go anywhere else? Smashwords seems to send them to all sorts of crappy sites I've never heard of, are all of those counted in the number of Smashwords downloads or not counted at all?

It looks like they can only read it on the site or through their "app". But you can link to downloads which is what I just did.

I tell you what would be good, and then someone can let me know if it already exists. Something like Wattpad where you can put something up and then other writer-types tell you what is wrong with it or suggest ways to improve it. Like a sort of free crowd-sourced editorial service.
