Dingo 1.0 Release Notes

New Features
Tablet User Interface (LCD Touchscreen):
Both the LCD or “Tablet screen and the e-Ink “Reader screen have new layouts

There is a new Favorites bar at bottom of screen. The default Favorites are Reader, Journal, Library, Browser, Email. You can customize the apps by long-pressing and dragging an icon over the existing one. They swap places.


Switch Apps Button Function
The Switch apps button is now used to switch between open apps on the reader (journal, reader, calendar). [ You can no longer open the journal using just the Switch apps button on the reader side.] To open a Journal, use the Journal app icon on the tablet.

If you long press the Switch apps button, the current application closes and the reader wallpaper opens.
New Applications Tab
To open the applications menu, touch the enTourage logo and slide up.

New Browser Toolbar
The new browser toolbar includes buttons for back, forward, home, and View Page on Reader.

YouTube Videos Can be Played in Browser
You can now browse to www.YouTube.com , locate a video, and play it on the enTourage eDGe. This is currently supported in the mobile browsing mode only. Desktop mode will be supported in a future release.

Customize Your Reader Wallpaper
You can now customize the reader splash screen (wallpaper).

Open the Gallery and locate an image. Select the image. At the top left of the screen select Set As. Choose Reader Wallpaper. You can also use an image as the Tablet Wallpaper.

To return to the default wallpaper, select Settings -->Sound & display --> Reader Default Wallpaper

Virtual Keyboard Change
You can now swipe the virtual keyboard off the screen. Open the keyboard as usual by long pressing the menu button. To remove the virtual keyboard, touch the tablet above the keyboard and swipe downward.
Library Changes
The new library layout is much easier to navigate.
Folders
When you open the Library app, the screen now displays folders organized by content type.

The left hand pull-down menu for content has a link to the store to see your purchased content.

The pull-down menu now includes:
• Library
• Storage
• Purchased
• Archive
• Store
The Tag pull down is moved to the top right of the library.
Added features include:
• Checkmark toggle to turn on checkmarks for content. Use to select content for archiving, deletion, etc.
• Change view from list to column layout with the switch view menu
• Search function added. Select Search icon, enter text, select search.
Calendar App Added
A new Calendar app is included in Dingo 1.0. The app has two modes:
• Basic mode - opens on the reader screen where you can select from several backgrounds for notes or lists. The possible backgrounds include:
• Plain
• Landscape
• Activity
• Notes
• To Do List
• Shopping List
• Advanced Mode - runs on the tablet with menus to name the event, enter date, time, description, recurrence, and reminders.

To use the Calendar app in Basic Mode:
1. Open the apps menu and select the Calendar icon.
2. Enter a name for the calendar and choose a color for events.
3. Save the calendar. The current month opens with today’s date highlighted.
4. Select a date for an event. The reader screen opens to let you enter the time and activity for the calendar event.
5. Enter the event time and activity using the stylus on the reader screen. To save the event, select another date on the Calendar screen or select Menu at the bottom of the reader screen, then select File, then select Save.
NOTE: You can store up to a maximum of 4 pages of notes a day
To use the Calendar app in Advanced Mode:
1. Open the Calendar app.
2. Press the menu button and select Advanced Mode.
3. Select a date on the calendar. The date is highlighted.
4. Press the menu button, then select New Event.
5. Enter the name, date, time, recurrence, and reminders for the event as needed.
6. Select Done to save the event.

Projector App Added
The new projector application lets you project from the enTourage eDGe to a monitor or projector. You will need to use a USB-VGA adaptor that is separately powered and DisplayLink certified.
1. Open the apps menu and select the Projector icon.
2. Make sure your USB video adaptor is plugged in to the USB port on the device and connected to the VGA display.
3. On the tablet screen, change the status from Off to Running.
4. Select the button next to Activation to change the Projector status to Enabled.
5. Set the resolution if necessary. Newer projectors will auto-negotiate to the correct resolution. Older projectors will default to the lowest resolution available. Enter the following values for resolution, depending on which screen you are going to project:
Tablet screen: 600 by 1024
Reader screen: 825 by 1200.
6. Select the screen you want to project. The default is the tablet. You can choose from the following:
Display Tablet
Display Reader
Reader Portrait
NOTE: Remember you can switch the tablet orientation using the rotate button.

Reader Changes
The Reader and Annotator tools have been organized under menus.
Reader Shortcuts
Press the button at the top left with your stylus to toggle the shortcuts toolbar on or off. When it is turned off, the book title and author are displayed.

Reader Menus
You can select Hide Menu remove the menu bar and display the page navigation tools.


Reader menus are moved to bottom of screen. You can choose Hide Menu to display the page navigation tools.

See Help for description of the Reader/Annotator tools. Snapshot and attachment behaviors have changed. See below.
Snapshot
To view a page from the reader on the tablet, select the Tool menu, select Snapshot . Then just tap the screen. The page will open on the tablet. To view a portion of the reader page, select Snapshot then drag the stylus over the section to view. The portion of the page will open on the tablet.

Attachments
Adding attachments is simplified. To attach a web page to a book (make sure the book is in your library) browse to the page, then press the menu button. Select More, then Attach Current Page to Book. Select a word on the page of the e-book for the attachment, or select the bar at the top of the reader screen to cancel.
Password Protected PDFs
The new version of the e-book reader supports password protected PDFs. To open a password protected PDF, add the file to your library. When you do, you will be prompted for the password.
Journal Changes
Journal tools have also been reorganized into menus.
There is a shortcut menu at the top of the journal page for easy access to frequently used tools.


The rest of the journal tools have been organized in to menus at the bottom of the screen. You can also choose Hide Menu to switch to the page navigation tools.

Resolved Issues
Issues resolved in this release include the following:

1. YouTube functionality disabled.
2. Keyboard issues: the right bracket key does not respond.
3. The reader may freeze in PDF Reflow mode when viewing a graphic image.
4. Library content over 100 items may cause the library to run slowly or stop.
5. Library does not support wmv, mov and avi file types.
6. Typing into the Library fields may be slow.
7. Cannot import Journal with Landscape style pages.
8. Pencil not selected when entering annotate mode.
9. Reader may crash due to attachment or note appearing off-screen.
10. Migrating library to SD Card prohibits local back-up of the library onto an SD Card.
11. Annotation does not save when exporting.
12. Start-up tool preference in Annotator is inconsistent.
13. Journal still displays the deleted journal instead of opening new journal after you delete the current journal.
14. Cannot open a PDF file with spaces in its name.
15. Deleting a bookmark from a chapter in a PDF book containing more than two bookmarks can cause a library crash.
16. A hyphenated word in a PDF reflow may cause reader application crash.
