Most uncomfortable place you have read?

I worked at a factory during the summer, and I used to read during breaks and at lunch. Sometimes it was so uncomfortable, I went to my car.

But taking my book into the bathroom at the factory was probably the strangest. I was gone so long, people must have thought I had an intestinal issue.

While working at the Naval Station in Norfolk, VA during the summer. I would read in my truck but I had to park in such a way that the sun didnt beat down on me and in a place where I could get a nice breeze going with the windows open. Sometimes I would have to close the driver's side window and open the door so I could use it as a sort of sail to funnel the wind through the cabin of the truck.

I used to read in my truck cab while waiting for my dragonboat practices, but after a few uncomfortable reads, I set up a chaise lounge in the bed and laid out in the sun in the parking lot.

At the dance studio waiting for my daughter's class to finish with hiphop blasting and 12 screaming kids practising their kung fu moves in the tiny waiting area. Or in my car in the parking lot of said dance studio at -30 degress Celcius.

Different kind of discomfort, but in a hospital waiting room, waiting for a loved one to come out of surgery. I have done this enough times to know that I need to pick out an especially mindless read for the occasion.

Agreed. I took my Kindle with me when my daughter was in surgery and couldn't get past turning the thing on.

Middle seat in an airplane with a Jorge Garcia lookalike on the aisle seat.
Only a three hour flight fortunately. The chiropractor got my spine straightened out in two weeks...

Airplane seat. Defiantly. I'm 5'11'' with most of my height in my legs. My knees seem to think they belong in the seat in front of me and spend the whole flight trying to push that seat out. Plus, I don't like being in small spaces with a large number of people and my asthma doesn't like the air quality.

Reading is the only way for me to stay sane in a plane.

university job where i had to swipe IDs of students wanting access to the gym. Not because the job was hard (it wasn't) nor because the students or coworkers were mean (they weren't) nor because it was uncomfortable (it wasn't) but simply because i got in trouble every time i was caught reading.

When was a student, I used to ride for 8 hours on Greyhound buses when traveling home on holidays. Vibrating windows, the stench, and that bulge at the top of each seat that pushes your head forward (who the heck thought that was a good idea?).
