Question: Has anyone noticed programs on PC updating to Apps
In the past 3 days I have had 2 programs on my Windows 7 PC update and new names called apps instead. I know Windows 8 debues Oct. 26th but I am not sure I want it. I just want to know if anyone else is experiencing this as well.

Webshots used to be part of American Greetings. The original developers bought it from them and changed the name and after the official launch, will no longer be a free. You will be able to try it free for 30 days.

I think it's just a change in terminology. Until recently, app was just short for application and used interchangeably with "program". They are probably looking forward and picking up win 8 terminology conventions, not to mention the overall popularity of mobile device apps.

In other words - they probably did it to sound cool.
