In case you haven't seen the commercial for the Kindle Fire, here is the Voltaire quote Amazon claims as inspiration: "The instruction we find in books is like fire. We fetch it from our neighbours, kindle it at home,
communicate it to others, and it becomes the property of all.”

Some say that you can find a verse in the Bible to support just about any theory, and its true - it even says so in the Bible! Matthew 7:7

My girlfriend and I were reading the Shakespeare play "The Merry Wives of Windsor" outloud (don't draw any conclusions from that or anything), and we came across these lines that jumped out at me:

"Lust is but a bloody fire,
Kindled with unchaste desire,
Fed in heart, whose flames aspire
As thoughts do blow them, higher and higher."

I think this was Amazon's real inspiration for the name.

The inspiration for "Fire" was probably directly from the name "Kindle". It was almost inevitable. They probably found the quotes later.

lol Ok Ok, maybe there was a little bit of costuming and there could've been some voice acting. Even though I'm like 160 lbs I can still put on a mean Falstaff.
