Well, 9.7 seems to work out to be 5.5" x 8". About the size of a digest size page. The usual size for a PDF is letter size or 8.5"x11". Measured diagonally that's 14". An 11" display would be nice but you'd still see some text shrinkage to fit a letter size PDF to it.
