calbre conversion epub to mobi
I have calibre and am trying to convert an epub ebook. It says drm can't convert what am I doing wrong? I am new to all this so be patient LOL.

You're trying to convert a file that you, or someone, purchased. The publisher of that book has added digital rights management to it, in order to prevent things precisely like what you're trying to do.

You won't be able to convert that file unless you strip the DRM from it, but be warned: this is NOT a place to ask about how to do that.

Instructions for removing DRM are not allowed on MobileRead. However you can search here and find a number of threads that will point you in the right direction.

Also, unrelated to MobileReads policies, removing DRM is illegal in the USA.

This is correct currently removing DRM is illegal in the USA, but the concept of removing DRM for personal fair use or backup has yet to be litigated in the US courts.
