Error not reading Kindle

Error trying to read Kindle. I re-downloaded 7.54, clicked repair, same msg. Odd because I have been adding books all day. Followed instructions and got the following:

That message says that the Kindle got detected properly. What exactly isn't working?

Manichean, thanx for the quick response. Have discovered the problem. I DL a small write protect prog for USB memory stick today. Seems it was stopping me adding books to kindle via Calibre. I've uninstalled prog now.

Well, yeah, blocking writes to USB memory will prevent you from adding books
