Books included?
Is there any books included in the prs 350? Which books?
Do you need to charge it or is it precharged? |

Don't know for the 350 but my 650 comes with 2 full books and a few samples.
It was nearly fully charged; 3 out of 4 bars. I think it would be the same for the 350. |

When I registered my 350, I was given a link to download 100 classic books.

EDIT: Checked and I had totally forgotten to register. After registering I did not get the link to 100 free classics, but I did get a 15% off coupon on accessories. The classics are probably all in the public domain anyway, so you can get them here at MR as well as many other places. Last edited by jswinden; 10-24-2010 at 06:55 PM. |

BTW, I was just on the Sony Style site using my 15% discount coupon to buy a cover for my 350 and I noticed that the current offer says "get $50 worth of eBooks with your purchase" of a 350. They have the same offer for the 650. This is at 6:11pm CDT on Oct 24, 2010. Who knows what the offer will be in the future. Assuming you can use the $50 on any books you choose, then that is actually a better offer than 50 free classics as you can get the classics for free at various locations on the internet.

I should say that I deleted the pre-loaded items without reading them, but I could swear there were only two, clearly labeled as "excerpts"?

I got a few excerpts like Suzie whatshername's Action Plan, Harlan Corben's caught and a full version of Pride and Prejudice if I remember correctly. I didn't get any bonus offer when I registered my 650 to my existing Sony account

The huge majority of pre-loaded books that come with any device, NJess, are classics and Public Domain works freely available all over the net -- as are hundreds of thousands of others. It's not something that should be a consideration when choosing a reader. Also, although the Sony range includes tip-top hardware, you DO need a mains charger. You cannot rely on the machines' over-optimistic battery level meters or on a charge from a PC or laptop. Good luck and best wishes. Neil
