Humor novel

Can anyone recommend a humor novel, my favorite comedy film is Airplane. That's the type of humor I like. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0080339/

I haven't read most of his stuff, but Christopher Moore's "Lamb: The Gospel According to Biff, Christ's Childhood Pal" was pretty good.

Robert Rankin might appeal. A quick glance at his list of titles will give some idea what kind of humour to expect. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Rankin

His Brentford Trilogy is probably the best place to start.

I've read a lot of Christopher Moore's work and have really enjoyed most of it. He's generated a few laugh out loud moments that garner some serious weird looks from other public transportation riders!

Biff is especially funny. I also like the Bite Me series and the Dirty job books.

I recommend Oyster Blues by Michael McClelland; a real giggle

I'm most of the way through Clarence E. Mulford's "Bar-20" (the first of the Hopalong Cassidy Westerns), and it's actually pretty funny if you like cowboy jocularity. It's not quite slapstick, but comes close at times. The books are also available for free here at mobileread, and very nicely formatted and proofread.

It's not a book, but if you liked airplane, did you watch top secret? Full of visual double takes. The book store scene has always been memorable for me. You can find that scene on YouTube.

Though not strictly a humor novel, I would like to recommend one of my favourites: "The Intercom Conspiracy", by Eric Ambler.

Try reading The Gang That Couldn't Shoot Straight: A Novel, by Jimmy Breslin.
