Cost of ebooks

I'm interested in an Iliad mainly for reading pdf files of old books but out of curiosity I looked to see if the kinds of books I like are available.

The one example I tried was "Seven Discourses on Art" by Joshua Reynolds the result of comparison was: paperback $10.99, Kindle 0.99, Mobipocket $43.95...

That isn't good value. Am I missing something here?

I'd suggest trying some of the free repositories first, as many old texts are available without charge (and in a variety of e-book formats) here on the forum and at sites like feedbooks.com and manybooks.net, e.g., Seven Discourses on Art at manybooks.net
