Free Sony Classic Books for USA Schools
Good afternoon everyone,
Apologies if this already exists in another post but i can't see it. Sony's website has a promotion whereby you can help USA schools receive free eBook classic titles. Here is the link to it - http://www.sonystyle.com/webapp/wcs/...ution_1#/home/ It says you can nominate a particular school once you have watched the video; i wasn't given this option, probably because i am in the UK. Not sure when the promotion started but the first 100 schools to register will also receive 5 Sony Readers as well. The schools don't need readers to be able to read the books though. |

Well, the 5 sony readers would be nice.
However, if I understand right, the "classic titles" are just the free Project Gutenberg books. There are way more than 100 of these; they result from the dedication of a lot of people who scan, ocr and proofread out-of-copyright books to make them available to everyone, and they have nothing to do with Sony. If you (or any school) want them, they are freely available from Project Gutenberg, or, converted into formats for most e-book readers, from Manybooks.net. Fictionwise also has a lot of this sort of e-book (not sure if they're from Gutenberg, though) and Mobileread itself has many more (produced by Mobileread members). Pass the word! |

They have a Winners List on the site so I'm thinking it's over now.
There was no place to enter my name and school info either. well, the early bird gets the worm! |

Hi Guys,
Doh, sorry to have posted something as new which has already ended. I didn't notice the list of winners at the time. |

The classics here on MR are, almost without exception, much better formatted than those available from Sony.
