SmartQ V7 'HDMID'

It looks like SmartQ are upgrading the SmartQ7 with the SmartQ V7 'HDMID'.

It has Arm 11 CPU as opposed to the Arm 8 in the Q7 (running at similar speed), twice the RAM at over twice the speed (DDR @ 133MHz vs. DDR2 @ 333MHz) , double the internal storage (2GB) and a HDMI port.

And it also Triple Boots Android, Ubuntu and WinCE!

All for about $250.

I was tempted by the Q7 earlier this year, but couldn't justify buying it. But this I may just buy anyway.

So I was wondering what you all thought of the Q7 with respect to:

- Ebook Reading (including text books).
- Comic Book viewing.
- Movie Playing.
- Internet Browsing.

I got my eye on the V7 as well.
But the W1060 from Wirelession looks good as well, if not better as it has a faster CPU.
I'm waiting for Coldsun's review of the W1060 before deciding.. haven't seen any reviews of the V7 yet either.

Straight comparisons of processor Mhz speeds is no guarantee of faster/slower system.

Dear:

SmartQ V7 adopts Arm 11 processor, but we use TI Cortex A81 which the Processing speed more than twice as fast than Arm11.So you can surf the internet more faster .Except these,MID A81 supply functions ,such as E-book,office work,GPS,PDF reader to run smoothly as well.

I was thinking about getting the Q7, but going to hold out for this, sounds better. Anyone know when it will be out and where to get it from?

I don't like the form factor of the W1060 (I really like having hardware buttons for page turning). The SmartQ V7 look perfect for me in terms of form factor, speed, and memory & I love having 3 pre-installed OS choices. However, the Q7 sounds like it had serious reliability and build-quality issues, and so I'm not getting a V7 unless I hear that it's better built than the Q7. If it doesn't turn out to be, then the W1060 is definitely a possible choice for me, so I'm looking forward to seeing reviews of both devices.

Kathy,

Thank you so much for the information here and the other thread. So far, this W1060 is the best MID in this form factor I've started testing. I would definately be interested in chatting with you further about it. You guys did a great job with it!

I'd definately encourage you to check smartqmid.com and other places and read about others' experiences when ordering there.

Well I'll be receiving my SmartQ V7 this week so excited about that, my main reason to use it will be as a ebook Reader and manga reader. Well maybe can post something once I have it.
