proper way to style Mobi
In a formal document, should it be referred to as mobi, .mobi, or Mobi? (I know ePub has that internal cap)
Thanks |

I would refer to it as the Mobipocket format in a formal document.

The document is a procedure manual on how to convert files to mobi for use on the kindle. Should I still use Mobipocket? or would defining my term up front as Mobipocket format (Mobi) work as well? and if I do the later, should Mobi be capitalized? in the mobi logos that I found online, mobi is not capped.
and if I go with the uncapped version, like in the logo, should I include the period before it? (.mobi) like on the logo? and if I do that, should I include the period before ePub? Last edited by BeccaPrice; 10-22-2011 at 11:43 AM. |

I would personally always refer to the name of the format as "Mobipocket format". You could, however refer to the created files as ".mobi" files, since this is (normally) their extension.

it is a pity that the term "mobi" is overloaded with meanings. Just try google. That's why I would prefer "Mobipocket format" too. You could use it once in your introduction and then for further use and reading easement refer to it by using ".mobi".
