Sideload books to use in Freetime?

I got a kindle fire for my son for xmas and I am setting it up and adding stuff to it before I give it to him.

I'd like to use the freetime app since it will allow me to set time limits because he will use it non stop otherwise. the only issue I am having is all of the books I have for him need to be sideloaded which isn't a huge problem but I can't add them to the freetime selection.

Is there a 3rd party app that I can add books to that will show up in the freetime area? I tried adding aldiko but I couldn't get it to show up on freetime.

My suggestion is to use the "send to kindle" app on your computer, to send it to your archives or to the Fire, and then go to "manage your Kindle" and make it available to the free time account. Then, it should show up in the Kindle app inside Freetime.

I have the same problem with FreeTime and sideloaded videos.

It's a little ridiculous that FreeTime won't let you access anything but stuff straight from Amazon.

I tried the send to kindle option it showed up on the kindle but not in my books.

this is proving to be a pain in the butt. it seems as though the kindle is one expensive advertisement!

When I get a chance, I will try what I suggested above. Not sure if I can do it today, everyone is sick, and I do have to wrap it

Ok, manage free time is not available for the side loaded book in the archive. I was able to send it to the KF from the archive, but like I said, don't know if I'll get to look for it on the kindle today.

I have verified that a personal doc in the Amazon archive will not show it freetime, or freetime unlimited.

I use the Collections for Kindle Fire (http://www.amazon.com/Collections-Ki...or+kindle+fire). It will open sideloaded and Amazon loaded books. One downside, it will open all books on the Fire not just those enabled in FreeTime. I like this because I can turn off the Books/Audiobooks feature and still show others the features of the Fire without them having access to all my content in Books and Audiobooks.
