It cannot be backlit if it is e-ink. It could be side-lit, though.

I guess the genius at Wired didn't realize that the light can be behind the clear plastic keys but not behind the Eink film.
It's the keys that are lit. |

I saw it a few weeks ago. If it were to be available in Europe, I'd buy it without a second thought... But it uses a network that's not compatible with ours...
