Ich fang dann gleich mal an.

Macht es Sinn Illustrationen die keine geraden Kanten haben in ein PNG umzuwandeln, oder haben da manche Reader Probleme mit?

Ich glaube, alle Reader können PNG, so weit ich weiss, also kein Problem (beim Sony bin ich mir nicht ganz sicher)

Danke fürs Pinnen und Beantworten der Frage.

Du benützt doch auch Stanza auf deinem iPod, oder? Werden bei Dir auch einige Formatierungen die in calibre und Adobe Editions normal angezeigt werden von Stanza nicht übernommen?
Ich habe z.B. das Problem, dass Stanza die Kapitelüberschriften nicht mittig anzeigt.

Hmm, das ist interessant. Es ist bei mir auch nicht bei allen Büchern, sondern nur bei manchen. Werde ich mir später wohl nocheinmal genauer anschauen müssen woran das liegt, benutze nämlich auch immer text-align:center.

Achja, hier noch eine Frage. Wenn ich neben einer ePub Version von meinen eBooks hier auch noch eine mobi und lrf anbieten will, kann ich das ganz einfach mit dem Konvertierungprogramm von calibre machen? Wenn ja, muss ich irgendwelche bestimmten Einstellungen vornehmen oder irgendetwas beachten?

Yup, das ist auch meine Methode. Vor allem erleichtert es das automatische Generieren der Kapitel gleich noch ungemein, nach dem Motto "Suche alles in h3 und mach ein Kapitel daraus".
Formatiere ich einen Text nicht als Überschrift, bekomme ich ihn weder in calibre noch in Stanza mittig angezeigt. Ich weiß nicht, welches der beiden Programme das ursprünglichere Problem mit dem <center>-Code hat.

Im PRogramm selber kannst du meines Wissens nach nur in .epub umwandeln, aber im calibre-Ordner finden sich mehrer command-line Tools. Um .epub in .mobi umzuwandeln, findet sich überraschenderweise keines, nur any2mobi, comic2mobi, feetstomobi. Also für .mobi evt. den Mobicreator benutzen
Für lrf -> cmd aufrufen epub2lrf C:\Wo\auch\immer\die\Datei\ist\Dateiname.epub eingeben und er wandelt in Dateiname.lrf um. Gibt auch Optionen die du dir anschauen kannst, wenn du nur epub2lrf eingibst.

Gäbe zum Beispiel in C: Beispieldatei.lrf.

Das einzige auf was Du evtl. achten musst, sind die korrekten Angaben zur Erstellung des Inhaltsverzeichnisses sowie insbesondere bei LRF eine passende Ausgangsschriftgröße (ich nehme 11, kleiner ist auch ok aber größer nicht, da man im Sony die Ansicht nicht verkleinern, sondern nur vergrößern kann).

Das Ausgabeformat kann man in Calibre in der Auswahlbox rechts oben einstellen und any2mobi funktioniert meines Wissens nach auch mit ePub als Ausgangsformat. Die Commandlinetools sind aber auf alle Fälle empfehlenswert, wenn man aus der Vorlage in einem Rutsch alle Ausgabeformate erstellen lassen will (via Shellskript).

Bei ePubs, die mit ADE (Adobe Digital Editions) und seinem SDK (etwa bei Sony oder bei der neuen FW vom Bookeen oder beim neuen Cool-er) sollte man unbedingt darauf achten, am rechten Rand mindestens 15 Pixel freizulassen, da ADE die Seiten automatisch paginiert und am rechten Rand anzeigt.

Viele freie Bücher auf Gutenberg etc. sind ja oft noch in der Alten Rechtschreibung.
Man kann ja sehr schnell alle Wörter wie "daß" mit "dass" ersetzen. Manche Wörter entgehen einem da mit der automatischen Ersetzenfunktion natürlich.
Was ich euch fragen will ist, ob ihr es besser findet ein eBook vollkommen in der alten Rechtschreibung zu lesen oder ein eBook bei welchem geläufige Wörter durch die neue Rechtschreibung ersetzt worden sind. Also ein Mischmasch aus Alter und Neuer Rechtschreibung.
Mich persönlich würde dass bei nicht stören.

Josch, ich würde die Bücher nicht verändern - bis auf Fehlerkorrekturen. Ansonsten veränderst Du bspw. evtl. eine zeitgemäße Übersetzung mit "merkwürdig modernen Wörtern bzw. Schreibweisen". Das liest sich meiner Meinung nach dann merkwürdig...

Netseeker hat mal wieder vollkommen recht. Ich finde, wir sollten an älteren Texten nicht herumklabüstern.
