What is the best PDF input converter?
I keep running in to PDF files that Calibre replaces LL's with single L's.
Obviously, per Kovid, this will not be fixed until the new Calibre engine is released. Until such time, what is the best alternative converter from which to convert PDF input files? |

Try using Mobipocket Creator to export to PRC, then convert in Calibre (or export to HTML and play with that).

Second time I've made that mistake - not exactly sure how I'm doing it - could swear I'd copied the right link. Will be more careful next time.

Mobipocket creator (HTML output) has produced the best results for me.

I have had pretty good luck with PDFReflow - it will remove header and footer and convert to HTML and keeps the double L. I think it's using an older version of pdftohtml that doesn't have the double L problem, but since it's older, I don't know what it's missing.
