e-book features
does a feature like this or similar exist:
Highlighted text being copied (automatically) to a 'central' storage space, thereby enabling a search across multiple documents also - is highlighting and bookmarking automatically synced across different devices, or are there still compatibility issues? |

The Kindles save your highlights to Amazon's servers, and to kindle.amazon.com, where you can log in and see all your highights and notes in one place.
Highlights and notes are synced among different devices, too, on Kindle. |

Sony uses Evernote to sync and store .... not sure if it does everything you're looking for.
Evernote is an excellent free database resource that crosses most if not all platforms. |
