Social sites popular with mobile users
Greenlight Wireless (the folks that bring us Skweezer) is reporting that MySpace has broken into the top five most visited sites through Skweezer. Other social sites like Flickr, del.icio.us and Friendster are also in the midst of rapid growth over the last quarter. Obviously, web portals and search engines are no longer the only popular show in town for mobile users.
To support users in such activities, Skweezer now allows users to "save browsing favorites to del.icio.us, Furl, Simpy or BlinkList from their cell phone or PDA." Interestingly, Greenlight Wireless is also reaching out to work with mobile sites themselves to make them more friendly for mobile users. '"In the last quarter, we've partnered with a number of search, bookmarking, RSS, and shared media sites to mobile-enable their content," says Kevin Perkins, CEO of Greenlight Wireless.' We appreciate and salute all those who are working to make the web a more friendly place for handhelds! |

From what i've heard the use of myspace on the mobile isn't as much about wanting to, it's more about having to. Myspace is being blocked by more and more companies and those that need their myspace fix during work are looking to transcoders to obfuscate their activities on a pc or make myspace viewable on a mobile phone.
The first transcoder that writes specialized scripts that take a myspace page and transcode it into something that's more user friendly then your standard transcoded myspace page will gain some nice PR and probably some legal problems as well. shawn at wampad.com |

Quote:
I am sure mobile phone has become an integral part of our lifestyle. Teleco's sometimes, irritate us with their apparently harmless up-gradations and communication problems but the worst nightmare is to lose your phone data. few days back i came across www.zyb.com which offers a free online backup to your phone book and calendars and i am sure services like these will grew in near future |
