"tablet oriented Android 3.0 OS, aka Honeycomb" Seems like a logical choice for us.

My guess is that Entourage just does not have the resources to get there. They are a small start up to begin with and now they are spread thin because they have launched 2 devices in one year and in addition sell e-books, music and accessories on their e-store front.

If there is any Guru to install Honeycomb into EE/PE to see how it looks like, would there be great !

I seriously doubt that the eDGe will be capable of running Honeycomb. Most products coming to market with Honeycomb (or planned to have Honeycomb available) are equipped with at least 512MB of RAM and a 1Ghz processor. Several are carrying 1GB of RAM. The eDGe falls far far short of this.
I'm guessing that 2.2 (IF it is ever released for the eDGe, and I'm not convinced at this point that it will be) will likely be the last major version update for this device.

bummer... I was hoping that since it was tablet friendly, it would somehow work. Maybe robot can get his hands on the SDK and do his magic.

The Edge has a 1.2 Ghz processor but has been under clocked to 800 Mhz (perhaps due to battery life or heat issues?) Anyways, it would seem the Edge would be powerful enough if Entourage could remove the underlock setting.

Since the eDGe has such high specs for hardware.....why is it so slow when loading web pages? So choppy when scrolling through pages/screens? Is it due to poor/sloppy programming, the 1.6 version of Android, or something else that I'm not thinking of? I have watched many demo videos of some of the newer tablets and am amazed at their "speediness" compared to my eDGe. Why the difference?

The eDGe just "feels" underpowered.

here are in my opinion the reasons it feels slow:
-underclocked to 800MHz (most likely for battery life and heat issues)
-older version resistive touch screen, not just that it is resistive, but it isn't cutting edge
-Android 1.6 was always a little glitchy and buggy, but it was the first widely available android environment, which is why most new devices run a more up to date version

Other things, why would it be updated, when the smoothness of multi touch wouldn't be important(resistive touchscreens don't support it, and that was a huge feature of 2.x android), also flash needs at minimum a version 7 arm type processor, EE has a v5 once again that is a major selling point of android 2.x.

At this point I would be suprised if I saw a major OS update for the EE.

Well the Edge has same specs as smaller devices but it takes more to power the big guy....

Specs really don't mean all that you think they may. you have to remember that just because the clock speed of two processors is the same, doesn't mean they are the same, if you look at an intel vs. amd chip, with the same speed, they will still be completely different. Also I'm not sure about things such as the generation of flash memory the device uses, which could also be holding it back.

1.6 was a sugglish version of Android compared to 2.2 so people are going to judge the responsiveness of the Edge based partially on 1.6's preformance.

LG Optimus One can be example of powerful android phone with 2.2-
It is 2.2 with ARM5, it means no flash. but you gain other 2.2 features.

I hope our EE/PE can go with 3.0- also
