Just got 505 back from Sony after repair

I just got back my 505 back after a month at Sony for repair. All the books that were loaded on my 505 are GONE. That's right, they are GONE, it's as if the reader never had any books loaded. Even had to Authorize it again as if it never existed on my computer. So be careful if you send yours to Sony for repair. Make sure to back up your books and be prepared to do without the reader for a good month. Other than that, the reader is working and I'm very happy to have it back.

Have you checked the serial number? It's possible that they just swapped it out with a refurbished one. My 700 was refurb after a repair

If you downloaded those books from the Sony store, you can re-download them again.

It's not right that they should be gone.

BUT.....

They all should be in your Reader Library software. Connect and sync and everything will be as before.

Sony do warn you when you send the Reader in for repair that they may well wipe the data - they tell you to make a backup before sending it.

At least with a device that doesn't have wireless, you know that you will have had the titles on your PC at some point! (Ignoring pre-loaded freebies)

When I sent in a 500 to be updated to the new firmware, I removed all the content. That way, I could easily put it all back once the 500 came back. I did expect to have it wiped by Sony.
