I got the impression that writer wanted to bring a bully in the academy who would torment Tavi and his friends without any reason which was a bit cliché to me. I fail to understand how it contributed towards the overall story. But as I said these are my thoughts based on just first two books and he may have something to do in the later books.

I'm halfway through 7 folds of winter. The first 1/4th of the book was slow and a bit confusing but once it picks up speed it gets better.
I'm not overly enthusiastic about the characters portrayed but I rest my opinion until I've finished the book.

Almost done Vonneguts's The Sirens of Titan. Really enjoying it. Then it's off to a genre I almost never read with Robert van Gulik's The Chiness Maze Murders for the September book club.

Finished "The Chinese Maze Murders" and now I'm on to "Rules of Prey". Quite enjoyed TCMM. Didn't know what to expect, and maybe that's part of the reason I was impressed...unlike anything else I've read.

Finished reading Unusually Stupid Americans: A Compendium of All-American Stupidity by Ross Petras and Kathryn Petras. It was entertaining enough, but are the stories true? Sans proper citations, references, & footnotes, most of these tales read like those discredited urban legends debunked on Snopes.com. Were these stories found in reputable sources or did the authors' research consist of emails forwarded by family and friends? Show your work, people! Very funny; points off for lack of references. **½

Swarm by BV Larson, its an excellent, classic feeling sci fi adventure about humans captured by a race of evil aliens and forced to pilot nano-ships in combat against an even more dangerous race of aliens. its a lot of fun.

currently reading Silverthorn, I thought the first book in the series was great. Hopefully this one is just as enjoyable.

Loved that book. I think it was one of those rare novels that I read in one sitting if I remember rightly.

I have both of those in paperback and have read them at least three times each over the years.
I am currently about to finish Too Many Women by Rex Stout. I have not decided what to read next.
