How do I sort the author list by first name?

On the left side, in the "Authors" category, all authors apear FIRSTNAME SURNAME, as I want to.

But they are still ordered alphabetically by SURNAME!

Example:

Isaac Asimov
China Mieville

What I want:

China Mieville
Isaac Asimov

I've tried to change in the metadata, but the field becomes red and doesn't have any effect in the category's order...

What should I do?
