convert PDFs to "night mode" by inverting colors?

I love my PDN for reading PDFs. The only thing that keeps it from being perfect is the bright glare of the white page. AdobeX on Android does not let you invert the colors as you read like Adobe Reader does on the PC.

Is there any method or program that will let you flip the colors on a PDF and save it--- so that you get white text on a black page?

The only method I could find online involved turning the PDF into an image, which would almost certainly make the file too big to work very well.

Anyone know of an easier method?

Here is the method:

1- Extract PDF file into images.
2- Use patch conversion tool to invert the colors.
3- Convert images files to PDF again.

I hope a special tool will be developed to do this function easily.

There was no reason to even attempt this. Most readers do it on-the-fly. Heck, even older Bookr versions from 2007 (Bookr being a homebrew PlayStation Portable reader) can do it. And not just text, images and objects too.

I'd lol at your 2009 reader for not being able to do this.

There has to be an option, firmware update, or even if there isn't, maybe there's a custom firmware that allows this.

Also, I think e-Ink text is better black on white. In theory, the more e-Ink molecules are activated the more the battery drains.

eBook reading devices do not modify the files they read. They often do, however, support a night reading mode where they invert the colors of the data to the screen. My literati has this feature.

I wrote some instructions on how to do this using ImageMagick in this old thread.

@DaleDe
Your literati can invert colors at will? Is it an e-ink reader, or LCD?
