Page Turn
I'm almost ready to buy the Sony PRS350 but have one final question. On most of the video demos I've watched they show turning the pages by the buttons. You can turn the pages by swiping the screen right? I like that about my Nook.
If I buy the sony I will now have 3 e-readers...What is happening to me? |

Yes, you can turn it by sweeping the screen. And if you know what's happening to you, please, explain it (Cybook Gen 3, Cybook Opus and Sony PRS-350).

You can also select either left-swipe or right-swipe for next page (and the opposite for previous page). I just nudge the screen with my thumb while holding it in one hand and it works fine. (Sometimes I just tap the next page button one-handed too.)

My Sony PRS650 works the same way--I can either press the button or swipe the screen. But I find I almost always push the buttons. In fact, I've noticed I've actually become slightly annoyed at the touchscreen, since it's so easy to accidentally turn pages.

The 650 does occasionally accidently turn pages on me, but I still like the option of the buttons or the swipe, depending on how I am holding it.

I use swipe all the time, love it! Also love the swipe and hold for fast forward.

I almost always use the touchscreen. Every now and then it annoys me by making me swipe twice, but thats very rare.

I just about always use the touchscreen also, takes just a very slight thumb swipe to turn pages. Once in a great while like Fayth said I have to do a 2nd swipe, but I suspect it's because I'm doing it so small and so quick, it doesn't have time to register it as a real movement. But that's extremely rare for it to happen.

On rare occasion I've needed to push the Page Turn button a second time.
This is as good a place as any to point out that if you're listening to an mp3 album, swiping advances the music (or book in my case) to the next track! |

I find that a diagonal swipe works best for turning pages.

The thing with the 350 is there's not really anywhere to hold onto the unit so I think I would invariably touch the screen thus advancing the pages. Or if I go to wipe dust off the screen, whing - there goes another 10 pages. LOL |

Good info to know. I had hoped there'd be something like that but was afraid to look into it further, I'd want it more. I'm such an easy mark. Advertising works on me and if I lived in the arctic you could convince me I'd need to buy ice. LOL |
