Turn off your wireless-2.5 doesn't work with mobidedrm!

Apparently the one update Amazon didn't mention is that the current dedrm scripts no longer work after installation of 2.5. I think I will pass - I find Calibre allows me to categorize my books through tags.

You can always use the old Kindle to PC Version + unswindle to un'DRM every purchased book.

And sorry to correct you it is more then confusing to say "current dedrm scripts no longer work". It sounds dramatic that you can not read de'DRMed books anymore. But thats not correct.

Every deDRM'd book is still readable with the new software (personal experience). Just the Kindle PID Script doesn't work anymore.

At least for me no big issue but i understand other peoples problem. But don't panic i for myself never have used the PID Script i always used unswindle script with Kindle for PC.

I hope i could help a little bit, don't panic everything will still work out in the future!

No; this has nothing to do with Calibre.

its just the scripts to dedrm books downloaded to your Kindle that won't work anymore. It sounds like the ones downloaded to Kindle4PC might still work (with the other script) if you turn off the auto update in Kindle4PC.

I've just prevented Kindle For PC from updating. I just made the update directory read only. So I hope that keeps it from even trying to update.

While unswindle doesn't work with the newer Kindle for PC, skindle continues to.

Skindle still works with the newer Kindle4PC. There's also EZSkindle for folks who don't like command line.

I deleted Kindle4PC some time ago - it kept opening up when all I wanted to do was import a book into Calibre. Guess I will have to look at it again. I am obsessive-compulsive, so turing down the Collections is hard, but wireless is still off. Never should have sold that K1 on ebay!!

I'm going to hold off for a while - I have the font hack on my K2 so it won't update by accident. I'll be more interested in collections when there is Calibre support I've already done the work once

I also have a K1 still on my account, so I should be okay once I do upgrade. I don't have a PC and AFAIK, no one has worked on Kindle for Mac.

thanks - I have K2us and I don't think a bin has been posted anyway. I think I'll just leave wireless off until the scripts catch up to the update.

I may go on ebay and see if I can find a K1. But I wonder how much longer that will be supported? People may remember, when Amazon announced last year that it was working on "a way to organize your books" I emailed CS and asked about availability for K1. They replied, after checking, that K1 would also get the update. Well, that hasn't happened. So even if I get a K1, it may not work much longer. Which is exactly why I must choose between the update and using Amazon's kindle store. The very first thing I do after I buy a book is remove DRM. The book is never sent to anyone else, not even someone in my own family. But my next reader may not be a kindle. But Amazon continues to offer the best prices and availability (that is changing) on ebooks. I'm assuming it is their DRM that is changing, and the books I buy elsewhere will continue to accept my current method for removing DRM after purchase. It would be helpful if someone could confirm that.

Yes, I did just admit in writing that I remove DRM on books I have purchased. I do not believe the anti-piracy laws exist to lock me into using a single brand of reader. As a lawyer, I know that I would not make a good test case - bad facts make bad law. Much better to go after someone on the dark net.

I can't believe that there won't be an updated deDRM solution out before to long.
