PicRenamer - A gallery app workaround for pictures, logos & screenshots

A workaround to allow screenshots and other image files to be renamed, system logos to be added/removed through the PocketBook Gallery app.

By "system logos" I'm referring to the boot, power-off and sleep logos.
Boot and power-off logos can be named as you like BUT the sleep logo MUST be named: sleep.bmp
(A restart is required after changing the sleep logo before it will be active.)
To set the active boot or power-off logo set in the usual way e.g. Settings>Personalize>Logos

What it does:
  • Remaps logo directories to /mnt/ext1/screens so they can viewed and modified by the Gallery app.
  • Adds a user app that allows for quick renaming of (last modified) screenshots and other image files within this directory. - See thumbnail below...
More info...
Spoiler:
Renamer will appear in the "User's" section of the app menu after install. I would recommend adding it to the control panel for ease of access.

The Renamer app will find the last modified image file in the screens directory, for example the last screenshot made or the last file copied to the screens directory, it will then flash a preview of the image on screen before opening a keyboard prompt requesting a new name is entered (see attached thumbnail for an example).

Essentially you can rename a screenshot instantly after capturing it, then move it into the system logos directory. This is the method I employ for converting image files (either downloaded or from other directories) into the correct format to be used as logos.

For a simple image rename, copy the image to the screens directory, launch Renamer and change the name, then copy back to the original directory and delete the original if necessary.

Install instructions:
Spoiler:
Upload the attached file to the root directory of your device storage (/mnt/ext1) and rename it without the .zip extension, e.g. PicRenamer.pbi
(You DO NOT need to extract the zip file, just rename the filename without the .zip)

After unplugging the USB (or a reboot) open the Library, select "Formats" from the drop-down menu, then select "PBI". Click on PicRenamer and choose install.

Restart to make the Renamer app accessible in the app menu.

You don't need to extract the file, just rename it (remove .zip from filename). The system will run it.
Simply follow the "Install Instructions" procedure.

PBI installer files are encrypted, this one uses a known public key. See HERE for more info.
