Kindle DX with converted Arabic PDF ?

Greetings,

I am considering cancelling my placed order to buy IREX DR00SG ( still backordered on Bestbuy since 4 days ) and go for Kindle DX.

wonder how my Arabic pdf materials will look after being converted to a Kindle compatible format that enables the features , rather than on pdf eventhough they might be alright on a huge ereader like DX.

I attached an Arabic pdf , Can anybody help me by converting it to a kindle format or a like, and post some pictures. It would be a great help for all Arabic speakers who are interested on DX.

Thanks for all Kindle team.

I tried to convert with other format doc, mobi, prc but Kindle dx does not have arabic font

On my pc is perfect, i think you have to replace original Kindle font with arabic font using hacks.

Another way i have followed is copy and paste font in word document, change font size and resave as pdf.

This is your original document on DX:

and this is after word/pdf reconversion:

Thank you very much for your great help.

The first pic looks perfect, I wonder if it is the original pdf without any alteration ? if so , that means DX able to show Arabic pdf perfectly.

However, the second pic is not readable, coz the words are divided into parts.

Can you pls, put a landscape pic for the same page.

Yes, i think if you use Arabic font with hack you can read and convert to other format like doc, mobi, prc and change size font, add notes or highlights.

But don't try to use text to speech

The first photo is your original document without any modification, and this is landscape mode :

It would be great idea , but I think it will happen in year 2099

I really amazed, the font doesn't seem to be small at all , ( always a problem with smaller ereaders and a conversion is often a must ).

I am not quit good on hacks and how to put them and how they work , but I think with these pictures I think I will hardly need any of them.

Gho57 ... Thank you alot for your effort.

Your Kindle will be able to work with your persian pdfs just fine - even though it doesn't (yet) support persian or arabic fonts natively. Remember: displaying pdfs is like displaying pictures. So your Kindle will be able to support Klingon or Marsian if you have it on pdf!

I have Kindle DX too, it's really great.
Don't be hesitate to buy one.
Yes, It supports text and graphics Arabic PDF perfectly.
If you care with 3G get the new one (Graphite Edition), else you can get used white kindle DX with US whispernet, it's more cheap.
I think it's a best eBook reader for its cost and for big screen.

How can kindle 3 Read Arabic

Greetings to all,

Actually I have just bought my new kindle. My problem is that I cannot make it read Arabic.I am new to the kindle hack system. My firmwire is 3.0.3. So,can experts guide me step by step to install Arabic fonts on my kindle without bricking it or losing Amazon updates.

Second, can any one supply me with the links or even names of known programs that convert to the kindle format(.awz)

Thanks to all in advance

While PDFs usually embed the fonts needed to display them properly, that is not guaranteed to be the case. PDFs can rely on system fonts as well [insert discussion of font licensing here]. If you try to view such a PDF on a device without that font, font substitution will occur.

But certainly any PDF created for general distribution should have the fonts embedded.

I think it depends if the Arabic fonts are included in the pdf. If not they have to use a Kindle 3 font which may not work (depend on the font type).
