Very few other devices are quite as rootable as the Nook Color - nothing compares to giving the end user access to the first device in a hardwired boot order.

If people are buying NCs, rooting them and then buying books from Amazon, who benefits more, B&N or Amazon? |

However, my point goes more to how the price affected the popularity of the device, rather than to whether it is a sustainable model. But given the difficulty that other Android tablet makers are having competing with the ipad on price, the NC's model may actually be *more* sustainable. |

i need to do more research on the specs before i choose between the iPad and NC. But as it goes, NC is at the head of the competition bc it's CHEAPER.

Most people don't need smartphone features in a tablet. All I need is a high end display, media player, net access, and an app store (via rooting). The NC provides just that and at half the cost.
