Words per page

I typically like my books around 250 pages, how many words for a 250 page book?

Depends on the font size.

Agreed, but I've checked a few books and for a normal book with normal font, it's just a little under 400 words per page. I tested a hardback book, which is about 13 cm wide and, say, 21 high, and it was so, then I checked the paperback of the same book, and it was identical, although the paperback was much smaller (don't have it here to measure). The paperback just had a smaller font. Looked like they'd used the same pdf!

So the OPs 250 page book is of the order of 100,000 words.

That's only a rule of thumb, and it's my rule of thumb. Ymmv.

Wow... I totally never think about the length of the book.

Ever.

Am I weird?

(The other half of the time I want the book to be as long as possible because I feel like I'm getting more for my money?)

(As for the words-per-page, I obviously haven't thought about that either.)

Numbers may not mean such, but they can make you think. I keep a list of ebooks I read, and just as a side note, I track the longest book I've read. On my EB1150, at the largest font size I favor, that was 4830 screens. So while not meaningful, it was a bit surprising to see a the book I'm reading top 12,600 locations at a similar font size on my new Kindle.
