iPad Dictionary Not Found Problem?
Hi -- I see in the thread in the Apple area that someone says they have already made Kovid aware of the problem with the iPad? That the iPad's iBooks program's dictionary will not work with ePubs converted via Calibre because the metadata language tags say UND instead of en? Will this be addressed in a new Calibre update soon? Can it be done in such a way that Calibre will be able to update already existing ePub's metadata? Thanks! -- Neil

Neil, the next release of calibre will update <dc:language> when sending to iTunes/iBooks, allowing the dictionary to work in iBooks 1.1.

I don't load my books using Calibre; I just "save to disk", and then manually import into iTunes. I guess I'll need to manually edit my ePubs and change the language that way?

HarryT, Save to disk will not update the <dc:language> value in the OPF file, you'll need to do that manually. The only scenario in which the value is dynamically updated is when using Send to device with a connected iDevice.

Will the <dc:language> fix work when using the command line ebook-convert? Will the language be automatically set as English or can we have an option to do it?
