Wallpaper change

Is there a way to change the initial log in picture? The one that has the time and slide to unlock the screen?

Only if you sideload the Go Launcher EX app on your Fire. You will have to find the apk install file on another android marketplace.

Then it will look like a regular android phone wallpaper and maybe change the themes with that but you wont have direct access to the amazon content and books, etc. Once this is installed, you can switch from the Amazon Launcher to the Go Launcher app without rooting (jailbreaking)

This is not the best solution for everyone

or you would have to root (jailbreak) your Fire to get full access to backgrounds/wallpapers.

Changing wallpapers

I guess Kindle Fire has some restriction on changing wallpapers. Mostly applications that were wallpapers or change wallpapers are not allowed on Amazon Kindle fire. I tried side loading one but it crashed on changing wallpaper.
