I asked that once before and the two clubs are separate. Nomination in one doesn't preclude nomination in the other.

If Can/US gets picked for region in the lit club for February, we could read it next month.

Good idea! Since there already seems to be considerable interest in reading it, it would be best to strike while the iron's hot.

Oh, we will find some more fitting regions, I guess.

I like this idea very much, and I'm glad that the book wouldn't then go under the category "Romance".

I'm for any region being chosen for any reason as they're all great choices, but be aware that the criteria is that an author should be from the region chosen.

Nabokov became an American in 1945, Lolita was written in English and the setting is a trip across the USA. I don't see how by any criterion it could be considered to be anything but an American work. I admit it, some books are hard to slot, but not this one!

Sounds like a good reason to choose US/Canada for our region then!

The wording is, "Nominations can be set in any region, but they should be written by an author from that region." It would be up to the group to decide if the author is appropriate during nominations and voting. Do you really think Nabokov would qualify as being from the U.S.?

The thread and one-day region poll will be up soon, by the way.

You're perfectly right with USA/Canada as a region for this book, of course, I only thought that it would additionally fit the regions Russia and Europe too.

A quick "Thank You" to those who nominated and/or voted for A Town Like Alice.

I'm half way through...

Now back to work... But I have a lunch break soon.
