Silliest Thing I've Ever Seen.......
So today we're at the local mall. We pass a kiosk, with a guy smoking a cigarette. That in itself made me take a second look........hereabouts you don't see anyone smoking anywhere indoors. Its illegal.
So I stop, and ask the guy what he's selling. Its something called an "Electronic Cigarette". Here is what the back of his card says: (I had to get one, knew I had to post here!) ""Smoking Everywhere is a rechargeable electronic cigarette, that is completely non-flammable and uses state of the art sophisticated micro-electronic technology to provide users a real smoking experience without the fire, flame, tobacco, tar, carbon monoxide, ash, stub or smell found in real cigarettes" I was speechless for a moment, then started laughing. Here is a guy with smoke coming out of this thing that looks like a cigarette, but it isn't real, no nicotine, etc. Has it become the "cool" thing to do now? Here is the site: http://www.smoking-everywhere.com/ So, I ask you.......Is it just me? |

I saw these featured on a late night tv infomercial. I honestly didn't stop long as I thought it might be the most ridicules thing I ever laid eyes on. Of course I've never been a smoker so maybe I'm missing the point.

I was as stunned as DG when I first saw one. A friend's daughter graduated from high school last spring she and all of her girlfriends were smoking them. The parents didn't seem to care since "it doesn't have any nicotine." (Forget that the packaging says otherwise, the parents bought that BS.) I've seen a bunch of them since then and it always seems to be females smoking them.

They've been around for some time now. There was even a great commotion over it here. It's not allowed to show tabacco commercials anymore but is the electronic cigarate part of that or not?

I know some people who have used them to help them give up smoking. Moved onto e-cigarettes and then cut down until they stopped.

I don't think these are a gimmick or a "sucker's bet." I've read about people using them to quit smoking, and I'm all for anything that reduces that nasty, filthy, dangerous habit.
