Apple approached Verizon with the iPhone first, and got turned down. Blame the idiots at Verizon who didn't want a phone they couldn't ruin by installing a bunch of crapware and disabling vital services.

Good point, I forgot about that..... Still, Apple should have been tougher with AT&T...
