UK Book shops

Where do people in the UK get their books for the reader?

W H Smiths now offer ePub books, many cheaper than Waterstones. Penguine also have a good selection. Any other UK sites known to anyone?

It's best to avoid eBook stores in the EU if at all possible, because they have to charge you VAT. It's very easy to buy LIT format books at US stores like "Fictionwise" or "BooksOnBoard" and convert them to Sony's "LRF" eBook format - it literally takes 1 minute to do.

PanMacmillan sells its own ebooks on-line in ePub.

If you want to stick to Adobe ePub, Books on Board is your best US source. If you don't mind stripping the DRM (from LIT or MOBI or eReader), then there are many choices of US stores (BoB and FictionWise are the most often recommended here) and a much wider selection. FictionWise also has DRM-free ebooks in Sony format.

I have to agree with Harry and Wallcraft - you're better off going to Books on Board or Fictionwise; or one of the other US stores. So far I've used Books on Board and been happy with them
