I started a book about a psychology experiment in human sexuality. Erotica is the genre. Yes
The study is about what happens when a couple is put together, when each person is the opposite of what the other desires/looks for in a partner. Yes

The first chapter describes the couple meeting in a bar, and instantly dismissing the other, as not even worth a pickup line. Yes

The second chapter describes them interviewing to be a subject in the psychology experiment. Yes

The third chapter describes their first two hour sessions. All they had to do was hold hands for the entire two hours. An amazon reviewer says it was for 4 hours but still on target.

I jumped to the end of the book, and the couple did have sex, and a relationship outside of the project. Maybe - none of the amazon reviewers gave away the ending!

I'm convinced this M&B short (46 pages) is the one described above.

I read this long ago. It might have been in Readers Digest Condensed books. Or maybe not. It was about 3 children on vacation with their parents. Their parents disappeared and they overheard plans to put them in foster care. They decided to run away and make their way home by themselves avoiding the authorities. Along the way they collected pets, I belive a dog, a goose and a donkey. I simply can't find the title. Does it sound familiar to anyone?

Not a book but a long story. It deals with a man who goes back in Earth's past (to the dinosaur age) and meets up with two young kids (young teens) who have run away from home or been kidnapped(on Mars). It has a nice twist ending too. I can't recall the name of the story though.

I think that just might be it. I remember the hero was trying to figure out how an apparently modern skeleton of a man got preserved in a time where there were no humans. Thanks. edit: Apparently it was expanded from a short story "When Time was New" which is probably the one I remember as it was in a collection of short stories that I'd picked up at a used bookstore.

A book that may have been a readers Digest book from 40 years ago.
It was about 3 children on vacation with their parents. Something happened and their parents went missing. They overheard the childrens protective people talking about putting them into foster care. They decided to run away and make their own way home avoiding the authorities. On the way they picked up 3 pets. A dog, a goose and I think a donkey. When they got home their parents were waiting.

For a friend: Perhaps 15 years ago, fantasy, whole world falls asleep and upon awakening everyone has a magic power or transformation. Some inherently Good, others Evil, and not related to whether the person with the power was a good person. Any ideas?

Hmmm. Thanks for the bump. The gal who posited the question used to own an SF bookstore in Chicago .... and is about to go (or has just gone?) back into partnership on another SF bookstore. Soooo this may be a rather obscure title, if *she* can't remember the name of it!

You might want to check librarything and goodreads. They both have similar name that book sections.

I've read a book about an ant colony and interaction with a human a long time ago, but I'm really not sure it's the story you're searching for. It's the SF novel Empire of the Ants from Bernard Werber, originally in french. I just don't remember a tower.

The plot begins as two stories that take place in parallel, one in the world of humans (in Paris) and one in the world of ants (in a Formica rufa colony in a park near Paris). The time is the early 21st century (the recent future, relative to the time when Werber wrote the book). The human character receives a house and a provocative message as legacy from his recently deceased uncle. He begins to investigate the life and mysterious activities of his uncle and decides to descend into the cellar of the house but does not return. His family and other people follow and disappear. The ant character is a female whose foraging expedition gets destroyed in one strike by a mysterious force that comes from above. She suspects that a colony of another ant species has attacked them with a secret weapon, and attempts to meet with the queen and to rally other ants to investigate the disaster. However, she attracts the attention of a secret group of ants within the same colony that appear to want to conceal this information. As the plot unfolds, the humans and the ants encounter new mysteries and participate in challenging events, including a war between different ant species. The descriptions of ant morphology, behavior, and social organization as well as their interactions with other species are engaging, detailed, and scientifically based, although Werber significantly exaggerates the reasoning and communication capabilities of the ants (rendering his work science-fiction).

I just saw this on Facebook and could swear I've read a book with that very plot but I can't think of the name of it to save my life. The details may be slightly altered, like the six finger bit and the scar on each cheek, but the plot sure sounds familiar.
