What are you trying to accomplish?

Calibre makes a book by linking the chapter files in the proper order (explained very simplistically).

Breaking files is a job of a Text editor like Notepad++

yeah maybe its not the correct tool.

What I'm trying to accomplish is, I have a book in epub format, I want to extract the text from the epub and convert it into many txt file in which each txt file is one chapter from the epub.

I can just copy and paste it to a txt file manually but is there tools to automate this ?

Just unzip the epub file - odds are pretty good that each chapter is already it's own html file. If they're not split you could have Calibre to do an epub->epub conversion and split the files at the chapter breaks.

Going off this, you would then need to convert the individual XHTML pages into TXT.
