Telnet on Kobo Mini (firmware

I'm trying to get telnet working on my Kobo Mini per the instructions in the wiki, but am having no luck. I am using firmware 2.6.1. All the steps seem to work fine, but when I attempt to connect to telnet with my computer, I get "Connection closed by foreign host".
Anyone manage to get this working?

I just did this but without using the instructions in the Wiki. From a first glance I see potential problems with the lines that should be "added" to etc/init.d/rcS - note that they really have to be _added_ to the original contents! But in order to do that, you need - the original contents.

Unfortunately, I will be away from my brand new Kobo Mini for about 24 hours. If nobody beats me to it, I will then provide a KoboRoot.tgz that will enable telnet (and maybe a second one also enabling USB networking in addition, which is what I currently use).

This is the KoboRoot.tgz that I put together to enable Telnet/FTP on my Aura, hope it helps.

It should work with most recent versions. I have used it with 2.5.1 (IIRC) but updated firmwares didn't changed inetd.conf, so there should be no problem.

If it doesn't work with 2.6.1. Use step 1 from here.
