help with saving template having multiple authors?

Hello Calibre aficionados,

I came across a broken link in calibre2opds and it seems that I am unable to set up my calibre saving template correctly.
The template looks like this:
{author}/{title} ({id})/{title} - {authors}

However, if a book has multiple authors, the resulting folder is:
.../Steven D. Levitt & Stephen J. Dubner
Now those multiple author names cause calibre2opds links to malfunction.
Now my question: when having books with multiple authors
1) Is the calibre recomm to separate them with "&" still valid?
2) How to formulate the saving template properly so as to avoid multiple names in the resulting folder structure?
As always, thanks a lot for your help and happy reading!

I think you are misunderstanding how Calibre2opds works.

If you are using Calibre2opds then it works directly against your Calibre library with the Calibre generated folder and filenames - not against an exported copy that "Save to Disk" generates. You will find that within the Calibre library Calibre will have stored the book only under one of the multiple authors.

I have given a more detailed answer with some possible ways forward to achieve what you seem to want in the calibre2opds forum on getsatifaction.
