Question Metadata sync between libraries

I have 2 main libraries of e-books that I use: My main library with all of my e-books and a library of mobi only format e-books that were published 2011-2012. I use the mobi only library for sharing with my sister who is very computer illiterate.

Is there a way to compare/sync the e-book metadata between the libraries so that it does not have to be done 2 times for each book initially and so that the books remain in sync from then on?

There is no way to compare libraries using calibre itself, though you could do it using various other tools/approaches - for instance generate a csv catalog from both libraries, and then use a difference tool to tell you what is in one library on not the other based on the csv files.

As for keeping stuff in sync in future - you can use the Copy to Library function (it is on the right-click menu) to copy books from one library to another, including all their metadata (assuming the libraries are accessible from the same PC).

Question Kindle Fire/Keyboard/etc sync also

Just adding some new books to my fire and I thought about syncing of the metadata from the Calibre library with my Kindles. If I change the metadata in my library, is it possible to sync this up with the book on the Kindle without having to copy the book and thus lose any highlights, notes etc that I have done?
