Is libre display html as good as jbl?

html is displayed pretty well in jbl -- it shows embedded image. Can anyone tell me, how html is displayed in libre? Thanks!

I just loaded a test file I use for testing HTML display in readers. The Libre displayed all the HTML as default HTML with few exceptions:

It failed to display most CSS stylesheet formatting, including font sizes and Bold style. Also, serif, sans serif, and monospace all displayed the same.

It did display CSS stylesheet formatting for Italics style.

It did display an image I had linked to in the same folder as the HTML file.

It did display default HTML headings H1 and H2 as larger, bolded text, but they were both the same size. Any headings from H3 and below displayed as normal test.

Normal text is displayed the way most eBook formats are on the Libre--that is, the text appears to have double-spaced line heights.

NOTE: ePubs display much better than all other formats on the Libre.

Is that test file something you're willing to share with the group?

Thanks,

Steve

Very nice! Thank you for sharing. I always hate reinventing the wheel...

What's your luck been converting this to mobi or fb2?

Calibre does a good job of converting to both formats from HTML. I cannot remember all the specifics on how the converted ePub and FB2 looked on my Libre and PRS300, but as I recall the first two heading levels looked good (h1 and h2) but h3 and lower looked like normal text. Both formats did well with bold, italics, bold-italics. Both did well with font sizes but I cannot remember the point ranges that worked. The ePub did well with monotype, sans serif, and serif.

I didn't try mobi as I don't think it works with either of my readers, although the Libre will display PRC.

Actually, I'll attach all the conversions so you can test them out first hand. the zip file contains ePub, FB2, Mobi, RTF, TXT, and PRC all converted from the HTML file I attached above.

I noticed a couple of formats (can't remember which now) that the Libre shows a generic icon for but does open the files. It does properly state when a file is ePub or Mobi by using the appropriate icon.
