Calibre is saying that the file aooears to not be a valid epub file or is corrupt!

An epub file is basically a zip file, so you could try changing the file extension and seei if your favorite zipn handling program can open it.

I have a similar problem, but it seems to be affecting ALL epub files. I can neither convert in Calibre, nor simply read them in Stanza. Same error given. Any ideas??

8.10 is a OLD version (8.21 is current)
IIRC Mobi was broke a while back due to a major rework in core Calibre code. It is fixed now.
Try a current version and see what happens.
