Ah, OK. All the plugins I use have been updated to work with QT5.

The version number now says 1.206. Next week would (I assume) 1.207. Will this be the new version number, or will it become something like Calibre 2.07?

I hope Calibre 2.x is stable enough for daily use when it comes out.

It will come out once it is judged stable enough. Hopefully, bugs will be caught beforehand -- like this week.

Yes, but I imagine there is always the chance of an unexpected bug or two being missed. No program is perfect.

Oh, there will certainly be bugs. No doubt about it. The bugs I'd like to not have are the ones that make the program crash, destroy your library, and eat the neighbor's cat as an afterthought.

Yes. This is why I always wait a few days after release before installing any new version of Calibre. Let the "early adopters" find the bugs.

Normally I install Calibre's latest version on Saturday, Sunday or Monday if I don't see any weird threads in the forum. I might stick to 1.48 until the end of September before making the 2.0 jump.

I'll help Calibre and the plugins by a donation now and then instead of beta testing

So far, the beta has done various weird things none of which involve destroying your library.

(I wish it would eat the neighbor's cat, though. )

I never liked cats.

That one particularly, ever since it viciously scratched me. Not really an attack, since cat scratches aren't nearly effective enough to qualify. I just find them to be nasty animals.

Cat scratches are not nearly effective enough? Since you don't like them, you wouldn't have one. But if you had one (we got two) and one tries to jump on the bed at night, misses the bed, but manages to dig its back claws into your arm to pull the rest of the way up... Well let me tell you, it hurts. A lot. Instantly. Enough to wake up with a loud scream. Last time one of our cats did that to me, I ended up with 3 scratches a few inches long on my biceps. Those took some days to heal all the way up. Not sure what would happen if the same 14 pound cat meant to do harm.

Hmm, well, that one didn't qualify. Maniac classmates with hockey sticks, on the other hand...

I've never had a cat scratch me like that but once when I lived in the country there was a cat who took up residence under our housetrailer and later had kittens. Anyway one night I was sitting out in my lawn chair looking up at the stars (which show up well some 8 miles outside of town) and suddenly I felt something land its paws on either shoulder. For a brief second I thought the devil himself was after me, but then realized it was the mother cat. I wasn't happy to be startled like that as I recall. It took me a bit for my heart to go back to a normal speed. Of course I don't like to run into bugs in programs either, but that's another topic. lol. I've had good luck with Calibre for the most part. When I 1st tried to use alfs tools I had some problems but finally got that sorted out.

You would not have wanted to live next door to a friend of mine. He kept to mountain lions as pets. And yes he had permits to do so.

Cat caused injuries can be bad enough to need hospital treatment, especially bites. Though my cats haven't bitten me like that
