Editing Metadata on Calibre

Whenever I edit the metadata of sideloaded books using Calibre and sync it to my kobo touch, my reading progress is lost (shows unread ). Is there any way to sync the data without this happening?

Can you provide the exact steps of what you are doing from the point where you have a book on the device that you are reading and you decide to edit the metadata. Pretend you are describing it to a toddler :-)

Why are you editing the book you're reading?

And no you can't save your bookmark when you edit Metadata

Tim is the Kobo driver guy for Calibre, so if he wants a description I'd give him one, LOL. He may have something in mind.

I'm editing title to include the series name and number and then converting the epub to epub and then syncing to my device. ( is it because it's a new epub file?)
