Hab ich auch grad gemacht, gerade hinsichtlich der Displaygröße. Hab's nur nicht eingesehen, mich deshalb gleich anzumelden. Uups, hätte den Artikel etwas genauer lesen sollen - trotzdem ist der Hinweis auf den iRex Reader nicht verkehrt gewesen ...

Der FTD-Artikel ist echt gequirlte Kacke, da war mal wieder jemand zugange, der von jeglichem Fachwissen unbeleckt ist:

Na-ja. Gequirlte Kacke ist schon ein recht heftiges Urteil. Natürlich kann man alle Alternativen erwähnen, aber dann liest die Neuigkeit keiner mehr. Es geht doch mehr darum, Amazones neues Gerät anzukündigen und mal ehrlich ...

Ich bin zwar auch ein iRex-Kunde, aber der Durchbruch mit Zeitungslesen auf eBook-Readern ist mit den Geräten noch nicht wirklich gelungen. Andererseits hat Amazon in den USA mit der bisherigen Kindle-Präsenz ordentliche Ergebnisse erziehlt. Das läßt auch für das neue Geräöt Hoffnung keimen.

Ja, zumal das Gerät sich richtig gut anlässt. Mit der PDF-Unterstützung, dem Autocropping und der Landscape-View lässt sich quasi jedes PDF in Originalgrösse lesen. Mit dem integrierten USB-Transfer und üppigen 4 Giga Speicher ist der Kindle DX doch wirklich ein Wort!

Ich muss ganz ehrlich sagen, dass mir diese "großen" Displays einfach schon wieder zu groß sind - zumindest als mobiles "Alles-Lese-Gerät". Ich mag kleine, handliche Geräte, die den Trick hinbekommen mir trotzdem ein angenehmes Lesen zu ermöglichen.
Ich könnte mir vorstellen ein derartiges Gerät für Fachliteratur zu verwenden - aber bei einer derartigen selbst auferlegten Nutzungsbeschränkung ist mir dann das Geld fast wieder zu schade...

Das geht mir ähnlich. Auf lange Sicht scheint man ja drei Reader einplanen zu dürfen.

Einen multifunktionalen für die Hosentasche (wie das iPhone), einen in Paperbackformat (wie das Cybook oder das Sony PRS) und einen im Magazinformat (wie den iRex oder den Kindle DX).

Das wäre soweit sogar ganz okay. Nur möchte ich den Magazin-Reader dann bitte auch in hochauflösenden Farben, nicht in sw. Dann lohnen sich auch Magazine, Illustrierte und Comics.

Und mit einem Gesamtpreis, bei dem man nicht die Aufnahme eines neuen Kredits überlegen muss ...
