The library management seems spruced up, but the ePub rendering seems unchanged (it has problems with some CSS and I have to turn off Styles for some books). They haven't addressed that with this release.

No, they haven't changed book management, only interface look The only interest thing: the pie showing where you're int the book at the library.

Grr...

How many books do you guys have in your library? On my iPhone 3GS w/300+ books (378?), Stanza 2.0 worked fine. On my original iPhone w/400+ books (416?), Stanza 2.0 crashes at the splash screen. Also, it doesn't seem to display how many books you have in total now.

Around 50...looks like they have a problem with large databases, which is odd because one of the fixes was to increase the speed of backups for large databases of books

And yeah, why remove the total book count? That is odd.

Those are two separate problems but it is somewhat ironic that they've introduced an even bigger problem than the one they're trying to fix.

The reason why backups take so slow for people with large libraries is because Stanza explodes every ebook into its component formats. Instead of just 1 ePUB file, you get a minimum of 5 files per ebook:
mimetype
container.xml
content.opf
toc.ncx
content.html

When you consider that a regular ebook contains a lot more files than those (stylesheets, images, usually one html per chapter, etc), well you get the idea.

The new layout doesn't allow for it. Still, it would be nice if Lexcycle could add an info or status page that would tell you how many books you have, how big your library is (in MB), how many books are still unread and you've finished reading, etc.
