help with sub_groups

Hi,

I am using latest 0.8.61 and was trying to follow example in "Managing subgroups of books" :
http://manual.calibre-ebook.com/sub_groups.html (looks like help is outdated)
but so far with no success. It show as below, without

Category (my name for tag)
[1]Computers.ActiveDirectory
[3]Computers.Unix

and I was expecting

Category (my name for tag)
[4]Computers
[1]ActiveDirectory
[3]Unix

I searched the forum, but could not find relevant topics.

Please let me know if anything I should review or post here to clarify my issue.

Thank you

The above is accurate, but you should see it come together in the tag browser. What does it show in the tag browser?

[3]Computers.Unix

with a second token ActiveDirectory or Unix, I mean not a tree structure

Thank you

For a tree, you would need to separate each buy a dot
Computers.ActiveDirectory.Linux

But this begs the question: 'Why do you need this tree'?

You can search for multiple tags with a match type set to: any or all (must be present)

Go to Preferences - Look and Feel - Tag Browser and add your #category custom column under the Categories with hierarchical items list and it will work as you expect.

BTW although the interface looks slightly different the help does include the step you missed. That is how I figured out how to do it.

Probably ignore me (as I don't use this feature and haven't looked into it yet) but I'm wondering if these two links might be helpful...
